More than 150 representatives of all government levels in BiH are woring to protect the visa-free regime for BiH citizens

In the period from April 24 to 25, 2024, in Sarajevo, a Plenary Round Table is held as part of the project "Support to the system of reception and integration of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina returning under readmission sgreements - phase II" which is implemented by the Ministry of human rights and refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina in cooperation with the implementing partner Hilfswerk International.

On this occasion, more than 150 participants from relevant institutions took an active part including; Project donor representatives - Federal Office for Migration and Refugees of the Republic of Germany (BAMF), Representatives of the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, representatives of the Ministry of Security of BiH, entity coordinators for readmission affairs, representatives of the Federal Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees, the Republican Secretariat for Displaced Persons and Migration of the Republic of Srpska, representatives of the Ministry of Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees Sarajevo Canton, Cantonal coordinators for readmission affairs as well as members of local readmission teams and readmission commissioners.

With the presence of representatives and other NGO organizations from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, this two-day event provided an opportunity for active participation, exchange of experiences and obtaining information about the mentioned project through the presentation of current data and the current situation regarding the general application of the readmission agreement. Also, data on the effectiveness of the coordination mechanism between the institutions involved in the readmission system, activities in the field of international legal protection, activities in the field of caring for Roma and other vulnerable categories, as well as grant funds to support municipalities involved in the acceptance and integration system were presented.  Another of the important topics of this meeting concerned the economic empowerment of readmitted persons, followed by the presentation of activities on the development of the Strategy for the reception and integration of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who return on the basis of the readmission agreement, and the Action Plan for the period 2024-2026.

By discussing the current situation in the field of readmission at the local level, the results will be summarized followed by an agreement on future activities within the mentioned topics through the implementation of project activities.

Also, at the very end, distribution of tablet devices secured through project funds are provided, with the aim of accelerating the digitalization of the readmission system. Additionally, the establishment of a software system for monitoring residential units (renovated for temporary accommodation of readmitted citizens of BiH) as well as keeping timely records of their use and management, will make a significant contribution to the improvement of the existing information system on readmitted citizens in BiH.

The mentioned project "Support to the system of reception and integration of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina returning under readmission sgreements - phase II" is financed by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees of the Republic of Germany (BAMF). The goal of this project is reflected in the further strengthening and construction of a functional, efficient and sustainable readmission system at all levels of the executive power, that will be able to adequately respond to the dynamics of acceptance, referral, integration and provision of appropriate support to vulnerable categories of readmitted BiH citizens.
