Workshop for the development of the "Handbook for ensuring the rights and integration of BiH citizens who have been returned to BiH on the basis of readmission agreements"
A three-day workshop was held in Konjic, BiH, focusing on the development of a comprehensive "Handbook for ensuring the rights and integration of BiH citizens returned to BiH on the basis of Readmission Agreements". As part of the aforementioned workshop, organised by the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH with Hilfswerk International, representatives of relevant institutions and local communities dealing with issues of return, asylum and reception had the opportunity to exchange information and draft the Handbook in detail. Representatives of the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH presented the initial draft and facilitated discussions on its implementation.
The workshop was implemented as part of the project "Strengthening Migration Management, Asylum and Return Processes in the Western Balkans" and was attended by representatives of relevant ministries from all levels of government. As members of the working group for the development of the aforementioned Handbook, the workshop was attended by representatives of the national, entity and cantonal levels, as well as represetatives of local communities.
In addition to the Handbook, participants had the opportunity to discuss topical issues including the current situation in the field of readmission, with a detailed overview of the current state of readmission practice and the challenges faced by readmitted returnees in BiH. This initiative aims to create a standardised and efficiend framework to assist returnee citizens in their reintegration, ensuring access to basic services and the protection of their human rights
The workshop concluded with a discussion of key findings and recommendations that will be discussed during the next planned workshop.
The project "Strengthening Migration Management, Asylum and Return Processes in the Western Balkans" is implemented by Hilfswerk International (HWI) in partnership with the Joint Coordination Platform (JCP), funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and the Federal Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Austria.
