In the period from 02.06. to 04.06.2021, within the project „Reducing irregular migration to the EU by strengthening the capacity of migration-related structures in the Western Balkans“, a three-day training and knowledge exchange programme was held, focusing on the area of controlling and reducing irregular migrations, with the goal of providing adequate support to the Working group for the development of the Strategy on migrations and asylum.

Members of the Working group, which consists of appointed representatives from migration-related structures on all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina, had the opportunity for direct exchange of information, as well as for learning about effective practices presented by experts and lecturers from Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In this manner, Hilfswerk International, together with its local partner organisation Association „HAJDE“, aims to support the process of development of the new Strategy in the area of migrations and asylum, as well as the Action plan for the period 2021-2025, a process that is being led by the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina. These documents will represent an important strategic segment for the development of the entire system of international protection, which will encompass the necessary goals for efficient management in the area of migrations and asylum, ultimately leading to the reduction of irregular migrations to BiH and the EU.

The project "Reducing Irregular Migration in the EU by Strengthening the Capacity of Migration-Related Structures in the Western Balkans" is co-financed by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and the Federal Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Austria and implemented by Hilfswerk International in cooperation with the Association for Help and Development "HAJDE”.
